Most roadside stations put the toilets and the shop first. Yu-sa Asamushi puts a bath on the fifth floor. The windows of the hot spring look straight out over Mutsu Bay to Yunoshima, the small island off the town, and the bath opens at 7:00, early enough for a soak before a day of driving.

The ground floor is the practical part: Aomori scallops, apple products and kujira-mochi, a soft rice-cake sweet that Asamushi is known for. The Yu-sa market next door handles vegetables, flowers and preserves from local growers. Upstairs there is an art display corner and a kids' area.

The station is on Route 4, about 8 km from Aomori-higashi IC, and a short walk from Asamushi Onsen station on the Aoimori Railway, so you can come without a car. Asamushi Aquarium is about ten minutes away on foot. Guide listings disagree on whether a meal counter is running, so do not count on lunch here, and the bath closes for maintenance on a couple of days in early February.
