Iwakuni Castle occupies the hill above the old castle town and Kintaikyo Bridge. The present keep is a reconstruction, while the hill preserves traces of the earlier castle. The usual visitor route combines the ropeway from the foot of the hill with a walk to the keep. Allow time for both stages and check ropeway operations before committing to the ascent.
