- [Kokusai Street](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/kokusai-street): Okinawa, Shopping. A 1.6-kilometer shopping and entertainment street that is the heart of Naha's tourism scene.
- [Okinawa World](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/okinawa-world): Okinawa, Attraction. A sprawling theme park featuring one of Japan's largest limestone caves, a recreated Ryukyu Kingdom village, and traditional Okinawan cultural performances.
- [Shuri Castle](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/shuri-castle): Okinawa, Castle. The reconstructed royal palace of the Ryukyu Kingdom, a mix of Chinese and Japanese architecture on a hill above Naha.
- [Naha](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/naha): Okinawa, City. The vibrant capital of Okinawa Prefecture and gateway to Japan's subtropical island chain.
- [Kerama Islands](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/kerama-islands): Okinawa, Beach. A national park archipelago with some of Japan's clearest ocean water, excellent snorkeling, and whale watching.
- [Miyako-jima](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/miyako-jima): Okinawa, Beach. A coral island in the far south, closer to Taiwan than to the Japanese mainland, ringed by white sand.
- [Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/okinawa-churaumi-aquarium): Okinawa, Aquarium. Built around the Kuroshio Sea tank, one of the largest in the world, which holds whale sharks and manta rays.
- [Ishigaki Island](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/ishigaki-island): Okinawa, Beach. A tropical island in the Yaeyama Islands with vivid coral reefs, white sand beaches, and crystal-clear waters.
- [Yonaguni Island](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/yonaguni-island): Okinawa, Island. Japan's westernmost inhabited island, 111 km from Taiwan, with sea cliffs, free-roaming Yonaguni horses and a disputed underwater rock formation. RAC flies small propeller planes in from Ishigaki and Naha; the ferry from Ishigaki sails twice a week and takes about 4 hours.
- [Zamami Island](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/zamami-island): Okinawa, Island. A small island of about 600 people in Keramashoto National Park, about 40 km west of Naha, with clear water, sea turtles off Ama Beach and humpback whales from January to March. The boat is the only way in, and wind or high seas can cancel it.
- [Yanbaru](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/yanbaru): Okinawa, Region. The hilly, forested north of Okinawa Island, spread over the villages of Kunigami, Ogimi and Higashi. Its subtropical evergreen forest is the only home of the flightless Okinawa rail and the Okinawa woodpecker, and about 7,700 hectares of it make up the Northern part of Okinawa Island, one of the four areas of Amami-Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, Northern part of Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island, a World Natural Heritage site inscribed in 2021. Come by car: buses are sparse and the best-known waterfall trail is closed.
- [Michi-no-Eki Kyoda](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-kyoda): Okinawa, Michi no eki. Okinawa's first registered roadside station, on Route 58 just past Kyoda IC where the Okinawa Expressway ends. Most drivers heading north stop here for hot tempura and Yanbaru products.
- [Hateruma Island](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/hateruma-island): Okinawa, Island. The southernmost inhabited island in Japan: about 440 people, sugarcane fields, the white sand of Nishihama and the Southernmost Point monument at Cape Takanazaki. The boat from Ishigaki crosses open sea and is often cancelled in winter, and the small plane that also flies here has had long suspensions in 2026.
- [Naminoue Shrine](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/naminoue-shrine): Okinawa, Shrine. A shrine on a limestone cliff at the edge of Naha, ranked first among the eight official shrines of the Ryukyu Kingdom. It was destroyed in the war and rebuilt in stages from 1953, with the current buildings completed in 1993. Free to visit, about 15 minutes on foot from Asahibashi Station.
- [Okinawa Peace Memorial Park](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/okinawa-peace-memorial-park): Okinawa, Park. A park of about 40 hectares on the coastal plateau at Mabuni, at the southern end of Okinawa Island, known as the place where the Battle of Okinawa ended. The Cornerstone of Peace carries the names of everyone who died in the battle, whatever their nationality, and the Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum (300 yen) tells its history.
