- [Aoshima](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/aoshima): Miyazaki, Attraction. A small island connected to the mainland by a bridge, surrounded by unique wave-eroded rock formations known as the Devil's Washboard. The island is home to Aoshima Shrine and a lush subtropical botanical garden.
- [Nichinan Coast](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/nichinan-coast): Miyazaki, Attraction. The Nichinan Coast stretches over 100 kilometers along Miyazaki's Pacific shore, famous for its dramatic wave-eroded rock formations known as the Devil's Washboard.
- [Miyazaki City](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/miyazaki-city): Miyazaki, City. Subtropical prefectural capital known for year-round sunshine, mythological sites, mango, and charcoal-grilled chicken.
- [Sun Messe Nichinan](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/sun-messe-nichinan): Miyazaki, Attraction. Seaside park featuring the only full-size reproductions of Easter Island moai statues officially authorized by the Rapa Nui people.
- [Ama no Iwato Shrine](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/ama-no-iwato-shrine): Miyazaki, Shrine. Sacred shrine marking the cave where the sun goddess Amaterasu hid, plunging the world into darkness in one of Japan's foundational myths.
- [Cape Toi](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/cape-toi): Miyazaki, Attraction. A dramatic cape at the southern tip of Miyazaki where wild Misaki horses roam freely along rugged cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
- [Miyazaki Shrine](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/miyazaki-shrine): Miyazaki, Shrine. Grand shrine dedicated to Emperor Jimmu, Japan's mythological first emperor, set in a vast sacred forest of ancient trees.
- [Udo Shrine](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/udo-shrine): Miyazaki, Shrine. Built inside a natural cave overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Udo Shrine is one of Japan's most dramatically situated shrines and a sacred site associated with fertility and safe childbirth.
- [Takachiho Gorge](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/takachiho-gorge): Miyazaki, Attraction. A dramatic volcanic gorge with columnar basalt cliffs, a tall waterfall, and rowing boats for a unique perspective.
- [Shiiba Village](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/shiiba-village): Miyazaki, Region. A mountain village in the Kyushu Mountains where, the story goes, a Genji general sent to hunt down Heike refugees fell in love with one of them instead. About 26 hamlets keep their own all-night kagura, and the village still burns forest plots to farm. The bus from Hyugashi Station stops short of the village centre, so the last leg is a booked taxi.
- [Michi-no-Eki Phoenix](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-phoenix): Miyazaki, Michi no eki. An old clifftop drive-in on the Nichinan coast, about 1 km south of Horikiri Pass. The building is tired, but the view down to the ridged Devil's Washboard rocks and the Pacific is the reason to stop.
- [Michi-no-Eki Takachiho](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-takachiho): Miyazaki, Michi no eki. On Route 218 in the middle of Takachiho town, this station is easy to spot by its huge kagura-mask monument. Stop for Takachiho beef and local crafts, then pick up maps for the gorge and shrines a few minutes away.
- [Michi-no-Eki Kitagawa Hayuma](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-kitagawa-hayuma): Miyazaki, Michi no eki. Right at Kitagawa IC, where Route 10 meets the Higashi-Kyushu Expressway, this is the first stop in northern Miyazaki. The toll-free stretch around the interchange makes it the expressway's unofficial service area, and the restaurant does Nobeoka's chicken nanban.
