- [Yamato-Koriyama Goldfish Town](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/yamato-koriyama-goldfish-town): Nara, Neighborhood. The old castle town below Koriyama Castle has bred goldfish for about 300 years and still has around 20 farms. All of it is free, and the streets and museums are within 10 minutes' walk of Kintetsu Koriyama.
- [Yoshiminedera Temple](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/yoshiminedera-temple): Kyoto, Temple. Yoshiminedera spreads across Kyoto’s western hills, with terraced temple paths, wide city views and the remarkable spreading Yuryu pine. Seasonal flowers reward the climb, but reaching this mountain temple now requires more planning than older bus guides suggest.
- [Abe Monju-in](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/abe-monju-in): Nara, Temple. A temple of the Abe clan south of Sakurai Station. The main hall holds a group of five National Treasures by Kaikei, led by a Monju bodhisattva on a lion about 7 m tall and dated 1203. Temple tradition says the onmyoji Abe no Seimei was born here. The grounds, a 7th-century stone tomb you can step into, and the seasonal flower plots are free; the halls cost 700 yen each, or 1,200 yen for both.
- [Hagi Castle Ruins](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/hagi-castle-ruins): Yamaguchi, Castle. At the foot of Mount Shizuki beside Kikugahama Beach, Hagi’s moats and stone walls mark the former Mori stronghold. The missing keep leaves a spacious park where castle-town history, wooded paths and spring blossoms come together.
- [Hirado Castle](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/hirado-castle): Nagasaki, Castle. Hirado Castle occupies a sea-facing hill across from the old trading port. - [Hotokegaura](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/hotokegaura): Aomori, Landmark. About two kilometres of white and pale green tuff spires on the far west coast of the Shimokita Peninsula. - [Kashiwajima](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/kashiwajima): Kochi, Island. A small island, about 4 kilometers around, tied to the Otsuki Peninsula by two bridges. The water is clear enough that moored boats seem to float in the air, and more than 1,000 fish species have been recorded offshore.

A Route 42 stop in Mihama, a town that sells itself on having mandarins in every season. Its own juice plant presses local citrus upstairs, and the long pebble beach of Shichiri Mihama is just across the road.
