A harbour designed by the Dutch engineer Rouwenhorst Mulder and opened in 1887, with a 756 m stone quay built by Amakusa masons, stone drains and bridges, and a row of Meiji-era public buildings. Miike coal was shipped from here until Miike Port opened. It is one of the 23 parts of the Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution World Heritage property. The waterfront is free to walk.
- [Mizuki Shigeru Road](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/mizuki-shigeru-road): Tottori, Neighborhood. A walk through Sakaiminato lined with bronze yokai from the manga of Mizuki Shigeru.

A 2,236 m active volcano on the Akita and Yamagata border, about 16 km from the Sea of Japan and called Dewa Fuji for its shape. Most climbers start at Hokodate, the fifth station at 1,150 m on the toll-free Chokai Blue Line, and reach the summit in about 4 hours 40 minutes on a route where snowfields last into July.
- [Odawara Castle](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/odawara-castle): Kanagawa, Castle. Odawara’s reconstructed keep rises above moats, gates and a castle park close to the station. - [Ujigami Shrine](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/ujigami-shrine): Kyoto, Shrine. A small, free shrine on the east bank of the Uji River whose main hall Kyoto Prefecture lists as the oldest shrine building in Japan; tree-ring dating in 2004 put its timber at around 1060. A single inn, Hotel Iya Onsen, on the rim of the Iya gorge, with its own cable car that drops 170 meters down a 42-degree slope to open-air baths beside the river.
