- [Michi-no-Eki Asagiri Kogen](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-asagiri-kogen): Shizuoka, Michi no eki. A Route 139 stop on the Asagiri plateau, close to the Yamanashi border, where Mount Fuji fills the sky on a clear morning. Come for soft-serve made with local milk and a meal before driving on to the Fuji Five Lakes.
- [Michi-no-Eki Daisen Megumi-no-Sato](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-daisen-megumi-no-sato): Tottori, Michi no eki. A farm shop and cafe right off the Nawa interchange of the San'in Expressway, with Mount Daisen above the fields. The soft serve made with black tea grown in Daisen town is the thing most people stop for.
- [Michi-no-Eki Kamae](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-kamae): Oita, Michi no eki. A fishing-port station on Route 388 in Kamae, at the southern tip of Oita next to the Miyazaki border. Since 2019 it has called itself Buri Laboratory and leans hard on farmed yellowtail, with a seafood restaurant and a market full of dried fish.
- [Michi-no-Eki Mashu Onsen](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-mashu-onsen): Hokkaido, Michi no eki. Teshikaga's roadside station sits close to where Routes 241, 243 and 391 meet, which makes it the natural base for Lake Mashu and Lake Kussharo. The free footbath outside runs 24 hours, and the visitor center inside is a JNTO-certified tourist information office.
- [Mount Moiwa](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/mount-moiwa): Hokkaido, Mountain. A 531 m forested hill on the south-west edge of Sapporo, reached by a ropeway and then the small Mo-risu Car cable car. The summit deck looks over the whole city grid; a round trip on both is 2,100 yen, and on clear evenings the queue for the ride up gets long.
- [Mount Oyama](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/mount-oyama): Kanagawa, Mountain. A 1,252-meter peak in the Tanzawa range that drew some 200,000 pilgrims a year in the Edo period. A six-minute cable car climbs to the lower shrine of Oyama Afuri Jinja at about 700 meters, and the summit shrine is 90 to 120 minutes further on foot.
- [Sada Chinkabashi](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/sada-chinkabashi): Kochi, Landmark. The longest submersible bridge on the Shimanto River: 291.6 meters long, 4.2 meters wide, with no railings on either side, and still a local road that cars drive across. When the river floods, it goes under. About 15 minutes by car or 40 minutes by bicycle from Nakamura Station.
- [Sukayu Onsen](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/sukayu-onsen): Aomori, Onsen. A single mountain inn at about 890 m in the Hakkoda range, known for the Hiba Sennin-buro, a pillarless mixed bath of hiba wood about 160 tatami mats in size, filled with strongly acidic sulfur water. The weather station here measured 566 cm of snow on February 26, 2013, the deepest since JMA's automated stations began keeping statistics in 1979.
- [Tachibana-dera](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/tachibana-dera): Nara, Temple. A Tendai temple on the spot where, by tradition, Prince Shotoku was born. The Asuka-period temple is gone; what survives in the grounds is the foundation stone of a pagoda burned by lightning in 1148 and the Nimen-seki, a stone carved with two faces. The main hall dates from the 1860s. The grounds are the Tachibana-dera Ruins, one of the 19 parts of the Ancient Capitals of Asuka and Fujiwara World Heritage property. Entry 500 yen, 9:00 to 17:00.
- [Zojo-ji](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/zojo-ji): Tokyo, Temple. The Tokugawa family temple in Shiba, with Tokyo Tower rising right behind the main hall. The grounds are free; the walled mausoleum of six shoguns costs 500 yen and closes on Tuesdays.
- [Fukuyama Castle](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/fukuyama-castle): Hiroshima, Castle. Immediately above Fukuyama’s shinkansen station, a reconstructed keep joins surviving gates and turrets on a commanding stone platform. The museum introduces the castle’s domain history, while a circuit of the grounds reveals the difference between original structures and modern rebuilding.
- [Ishibutai Kofun](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/ishibutai-kofun): Nara, Historic site. An early 7th-century burial chamber of about 30 huge stones whose earth mound has worn away, leaving the ceiling slabs in the open. You can walk down into the chamber. Whose tomb it was is unproven; Soga no Umako is the leading candidate. One of the 19 parts of the Ancient Capitals of Asuka and Fujiwara World Heritage property. Entry 500 yen, open every day 9:00 to 17:00.
- [Kawasaki Daishi](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/kawasaki-daishi): Kanagawa, Temple. Heiken-ji, founded in 1128 and known as Kawasaki Daishi, is a head temple of Chisan Shingon Buddhism where people come to ward off bad luck. Entry to the grounds is free, and it is an 8-minute walk from Kawasaki-Daishi Station on the Keikyu Daishi Line.
- [Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/maxell-aqua-park-shinagawa): Tokyo, Aquarium. An indoor aquarium inside the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, about two minutes from Shinagawa Station, with about 350 species and a dolphin show in a 360-degree arena that switches to a light-and-projection version after dark. Adult entry is 2,800 yen, and the show is included.
- [Michi-no-Eki Shimanto Towa](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/michi-no-eki-shimanto-towa): Kochi, Michi no eki. A riverside station on Route 381 in the hills of the Towa district, where the Shimanto River bends through the valley. Local women run much of the produce market, the dining room cooks with river and valley ingredients, and a zipline crosses the water.
