- [Mashiko](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/mashiko): Tochigi, City. One of Japan's most famous pottery towns, home to over 300 kilns producing the rustic Mashiko-yaki style popularized by Shoji Hamada. The twice-yearly pottery fair attracts 600,000 visitors. Perfect for hands-on pottery experiences.
- [Ashikaga Flower Park](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/ashikaga-flower-park): Tochigi, Garden. Famous flower park featuring a 150-year-old Great Wisteria tree and spectacular seasonal illuminations, named among Japan's top three illumination spots.
- [Kegon Falls](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/kegon-falls): Tochigi, Attraction. One of Japan's three finest waterfalls, plunging 97 meters from the heights of Lake Chuzenji into a misty gorge, especially dramatic framed by autumn foliage or winter ice.
- [Oya History Museum](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/oya-history-museum): Tochigi, Museum. An underground space carved out of Oya stone quarries, with soaring 30-meter ceilings reminiscent of an underground cathedral. Used as a filming location and concert venue. The temperature stays around 7C year-round.
- [Chuzenji Lake](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/chuzenji-lake): Tochigi, Attraction. A scenic mountain lake at 1,269 meters elevation, formed by the eruption of Mount Nantai. Surrounded by forests that blaze with color in autumn, with the Kegon Falls at its outlet. Popular for boat cruises and lakeside walks.
- [Nasu Highland Park](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/nasu-highland-park): Tochigi, Amusement park. The largest amusement park in the Tochigi highlands, set among the forests of the Nasu resort area, with around 40 rides from big roller coasters to family and character attractions.
- [Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/edo-wonderland-nikko-edomura): Tochigi, Theme park. A living-history theme park near Nikko that recreates a town of the Edo period, where costumed residents, ninja and samurai shows, and dress-up experiences let visitors step into old Japan.
- [Honda Collection Hall](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/honda-collection-hall): Tochigi, Museum. Honda's own museum, inside the Mobility Resort Motegi race circuit and park, with motorcycles, cars and robots from the company's founding onward. There is no extra charge beyond park entry (2,000 yen for adults at the gate on regular days) and parking, and photography is allowed.
- [Rinno-ji](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/rinno-ji): Tochigi, Temple. The Tendai temple that has run Nikko's mountain worship since the monk Shodo opened it in 766. Two sites ten minutes apart: Sanbutsudo, the main hall with three gilded Buddhas about 7.5 metres from pedestal to the top of the halo, and Taiyuin, the mausoleum of the third shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu, uphill next to Futarasan Shrine. Separate tickets from Tosho-gu. One of the four parts of the Shrines and Temples of Nikko World Heritage property.
- [Kinugawa Onsen](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/kinugawa-onsen): Tochigi, Onsen. A long line of big hotels on both banks of the Kinu River gorge, about two hours from Asakusa on Tobu's limited express. Come for the boat ride down the river, the 140-metre suspension bridge to Tateiwa rock and the free footbath outside the station. The town's public bathhouse closed in 2024, so a soak in the water itself now means a hotel's day-bathing hours.
- [Mount Nantai](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/mount-nantai): Tochigi, Mountain. The 2,486-meter sacred mountain of Futarasan Shrine, climbed only from the shrine's Chugushi on Lake Chuzenji between 25 April and 11 November. The fee is 1,000 yen in cash, and the round trip takes six to seven hours with no water or toilets on the way.
- [Okukinu Onsen](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/okukinu-onsen): Tochigi, Onsen. Four inns at the head of the Kinu River inside Nikko National Park: Kaniyu, Hatchonoyu, Nikkozawa Onsen and Teshirozawa Onsen. No private cars or taxis go past Meotobuchi, so you walk in on a forest trail (80 to 90 minutes to the nearest inns, 2 to 2.5 hours to Teshirozawa) or, if you are staying at Kaniyu or Hatchonoyu, ride the inn's shuttle.
- [Futarasan Shrine](https://travel.japanvoyage.jp/travel_destinations/futarasan-shrine): Tochigi, Shrine. The shrine of Mount Nantai, in the cedars a few minutes west of Tosho-gu, and owner of the vermilion Shinkyo bridge at the entrance to Nikko's shrine district. The grounds are free; the garden behind the main hall, with a bronze lantern from 1292 and a spring said to keep you young, costs 500 yen. One of the four parts of the Shrines and Temples of Nikko World Heritage property.
