Suwa is a basin, and that is the whole point. Shells are launched from barges on the lake, the mountains around it return the report a beat later, and the water doubles the light. The result is louder and more physical than a display of the same size fired over a city. The signature piece is the Kiagari Suisha, a set of shells fired low and fast across the surface, and the finale runs a curtain of fire down a length of the shoreline. Because the date is fixed to 15 August, it lands in the Obon holiday and the town is full.

## Where it happens
